Divination is a tool that most religions deem as unacceptable. In Christian religions, there are a few mentions of astrology and other forms of divination in the Bible.
Isaiah 47:13–14
“You are wearied with your many counsels;
Let now the astrologers,
Those who prophesy by the stars,
Those who predict by the new moons,
Stand up and save you from what will come upon you.”
“Behold, they have become like stubble,
Fire burns them;
They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame;
There will be no coal to warm by
Nor a fire to sit before!”
Preaching information without practice is still a form of internalization.
This particular verse does not seem to denounce divination, but instead reminds us of karmic repercussions that we may face due to internalization. In other words, it may be dangerous to learn about what’s hidden without properly applying the knowledge. It is easy to recycle information and preach. It is far more challenging to apply information personally to our own lives. It is selfish to only apply what you know through divination, only for yourself and not lend a helping hand to others. Yet, it is ignorant to only provide handouts to others, as you do not know their true intentions, and so, they may use your kindness against you.
Leviticus 20:6
“As for the person who turn to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set my face against that person and will cut him off from among his people.”
Divination interferes with common behavior and law.
The ability to predict interferes with any sort of dictatorship. It crosses boundaries with any sort of laws, commandments or regulations. Because those who are able to make predictions based upon the movement of the stars or through any sort of medium may appear to have an advantage in life. This would obviously be a threat to anyone that is trying to have authority over others, as they feel entitled in receiving advantages. Ironically, those authorities would contradict their own advise or laws that they have made for others to follow. With that being said, not everyone needs to know about divination because most human beings are not moral enough and may use it for the wrong purposes. If you cannot see the right messages that God sends you in your everyday life, then you may not see the proper signs in any sort of divination tool. Perhaps these people have already been cut off from their guides due to their poor morals.
There are many other verses in the Bible which also mention divination. The truth is that human beings interfere with the innocence of anything because the ego conflicts with the concept of reality. Some people are fearful to know that another person can have control over their life. Others are fearful to know that they cannot have control over other peoples lives. In others words, some people believe in witchcraft, while others believe in fate. Most of the time, denial and escapist behaviors can interfere with the reality that we perceive. For example, you may escape the reminder to update your phone for weeks, and then when you try upload a video, it does not work. Instead of taking responsibility for your own avoidance, you may look for an outside source to blame. Most people with this sort of mentality believe more so in witchcraft. Which means that you give way more power to your external environment, instead of your own personal willpower. Another person in the same predicament may instead realize that they forgot to update their phone and then proceed to resolve the issue by updating their phone. They may also realize that part of the reason for avoiding the update was due to laziness and preferring to respond to text message notifications rather than reminder notifications. However, they may not assume that someone performed witchcraft on them because they understand the source behind the issue. Since people have a preference in the way they perceive their reality, divination is rarely seen as an innocent practice because people’s egos will get in the way of any future message being received. If something is being predicted for the future, most human minds will not be able to decipher that as a prediction or something that was caused by the foreteller.
