It’s no doubt that our society is opening up to alternative medicine. People swear by supplements, herbs, therapy and meditation over traditional medical treatments. The truth is that everything works, but it depends on an individual’s personal preferences and intentions. There are different people in this world. Some people just want to be fixed. They are unconcerned with all the details, as long as the treatment works. This traditionally separates the patient from the health practitioner. On the other extreme, there are people who are a little more curious. They demand the knowledge of a doctor or nurse while still carrying the vulnerability of a patient. These are the people who may be more interested in alternative healing.

Alternative and Traditional Medicine

Alternative medicine usually takes on a holistic or alternative approach to health and while traditional medicine has often rejected alternative treatments, ironically it is often complementary to Western medicine. Alternative medicine understands stress as being the root cause of disease, and so stress is the primary focus in the treatment. Obviously, this takes more time, effort and patience than most traditional medical treatments. In today’s busy society, we have become less concerned with the depths of an issue. People are gravitated towards the resolution, not the details. Timing is crucial and traditional medicine tends to be more favorable and conform more with societal expectations, health organizations and benefit programs. But those who have the extra money and time for alternative health treatments seem to have a more fulfilling healing experience in the long run.

Massage Therapy, Chiropractic and Acupuncture

Although massage therapy is often thought of as a spa treatment, it is actually a healthcare treatment. Massages help relax the body and stimulate tissues and nerves. This can have a huge impact on your physical, mental and emotional body. The same goes for chiropractic treatments. Although these treatments tend to be less gentle, they help with triggering the spinal cord and nervous system, which can be helpful for people with various of medical conditions such as back pain, headaches, sciatica and other musculoskeletal conditions. Acupuncture is a Chinese medicine alternative that helps to activate certain trigger points in the body and rebalance the flow of Chi or energy in the body. There are other alternative treatments which are very similar such a reflexology, which aim to trigger points in the feet which are connected to certain organs in the body. All these treatments have been successful for many people.

Reiki and Energy Healing

Reiki is a relaxing energy healing treatment that intends to reduce stress and heal the body through the movement of energy. Unlike Massage therapy which uses direct touch and tissue massages, Reiki uses little to no touch. This implements a disciplined sense of relaxation and can be especially helpful for those struggling with stress and rejection issues. There are plenty of other energy healing treatments such as EFT tapping, Crystal healing and Polarity therapy. All seek to heal and restore energy in the body.

Issues with Alternative Medicine and Energy Healing

Besides the expectation of direct immediate results, others may struggle with the continuance of these treatments because they are often not covered by insurance. It also may be difficult to find an office that offers these treatments near you. Sometimes distant traveling or distant therapy may be necessary to receive these treatments depending on where you live. However, with the evolution and transiting of society and it’s healthcare system, it’s easier to access energy healing and alternative medicine.

Don’t Let Others Sway Your Opinion

Unlike traditional medical treatments, energy healing requires a little more mental influence. So, if you start a treatment with a negative mind state, chances are the treatment will not be much effective. It’s fair to say that energy healing will work better for those who already live somewhat of a spiritual lifestyle. People like this won’t be swayed so much from opposing opinions. It’s best to keep a balance between an open and stable mind state, which also feedbacks into the healing process itself.
